Not in Prison Yet - John 3:24

John the apostle shared, “After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized. And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized”, and in chapter three and verse twenty-four of his book, John shared how, “John was not yet cast into prison” where we read:

For John was not yet cast into prison.

The verse reads,For John was not yet cast into prison.” John began with the words, “For John” which means “because, since and on account that John the Baptist whose name means Jehovah is a gracious giver” “was not yet cast” or “was not at this time and moment thrown or put” “into prison” which means “into guard, watch or a sentinel”. John shared how John the Baptist at this time was not incarcerated.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn why John the Baptist continued to “baptize” people at this time. He was not “yet” incarcerated which gave Him the ability to continue to minister. God loves people to yield to His Son Jesus as their “Lord and Savior”, and when they do, He will use them in His Kingdom to share His “gospel” or “good news” with others. Those who are wise will submit to Him and allow Him to use them for as long as He deems necessary.

Next time John shares how, “there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
