In Psalms chapter eighteen David said, “In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth. There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it. He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet”, and in chapter eighteen and verse ten David said, “and he rode upon a cherub, and did fly” where we read,
And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yes, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.
The verse begins, “And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly:” David began with the words, “And he rode” which means “and Jehovah God mounted and set Himself” “upon a cherub” or “on an angelic being or cherubim”, “and did fly” which means “and hovered and flew away”. David shared how Jehovah God mounted a “cherubim” and flew away.
The verse continues, “yes, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.” David added the words, “yes, he did fly” or “indeed Jehovah God flew fast and darted through the air” “upon the wings” which means “on the flaps or overspreading feathers” “of the wind” or “pertaining to the breath or spirit which represents the supernatural animation, vivacity and vigor”. David wrote how Jehovah God flew quickly upon the overspreading feathers belonging to the supernatural spirit or breeze.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn more from David about the mobility of Jehovah God. David attempted to show the quickness of God's response to his outcry, and because the LORD is not limited by time and space, He was able at will to maneuver to come to David's aid. God loved David, and He loves everyone. His desire is to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when we submit to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us eternal life and respond to us quickly according to His perfect plan and will. Let us give praise and honor to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus as they ride upon “cherubim” and the “wind” to respond to our needs.
Next time David says, “He made darkness his secret place”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
