In Psalms chapter fifteen David asked, “LORD, who shall abide in your tabernacle? who shall dwell in your holy hill?”, and in Psalms chapter fifteen and verse two David shared about the person who, “speaks the truth in his heart” where we read,
He that walks uprightly, and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart.
The verse begins, “He that walks uprightly, and works righteousness, ...” David began with the words, “He that walks uprightly” which means “the person whether male or female who ambles about, proceeds, moves and traverses complete, whole, entire and sound”, “and works righteousness” or “and makes, practices and ordains justice, rightness and what is ethically right”. David said the person who is able to dwell in Jehovah God's “tabernacle and holy hill” is the one who ambles about in a complete and whole manner and also performs deeds of justice and that which is ethically right.
The verse continues, “... and speaks the truth in his heart.” David added the words, “and speaks the truth” or “and utters, declares, proclaims and converses that which is firm, faithful, sure, reliable and stable” “in his heart” which means “within the upright person's inner man, mind, will, soul and understanding”. David said the person who “walks uprightly and works righteousness” also proclaims that which is “faithful, reliable and true” within His soul.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we discover through David who the person is that is able to dwell in God's “tabernacle and holy hill”. Their character is filled with soundness, and they perform that which is good and right. Their speech reveals the faithful and reliable state of their souls, and anyone who converses with them understands the “truth” is the source of their inner being. God wants people to live this way, and because people have a tendency to be contrary to this, He sent His Son Jesus into the world to save them from their errant ways. Jehovah God wants to have a personal relationship with every person, and when they yield to His Son Jesus, He will forgive their sins and grant them everlasting life. A relationship with Jesus will be the basis upon which they “walk uprightly, work righteousness and speak the truth in their souls”, and all praise is to be given unto Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for providing a way for everyone who surrenders to live with Him in His sacred places.
Next time David says the person who enters the LORD's tabernacle, “backbites not with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
