In Psalms chapter eighteen David wrote, “The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire. Yes, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them. Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils”, and in chapter eighteen and verse sixteen David said the LORD, “sent from above” where we read,
He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.
The verse begins, “He sent from above, ...” David began with the words, “He sent” which means “He, Jehovah God, stretched out, spread and impelled” “from above” or “apart and separate from His high place, elevation and haughty and lofty height”. David said Jehovah God stretched out and apart from His elevated and lofty height.
The verse goes on to say, “... he took me, he drew me out of many waters.” David continued with the words, “he took me” or “Jehovah God lay hold of, snatched and possessed me, David”, “he drew me out” which means “Jehovah God pulled me, David, out” “of many waters” or “a great number of waste waters”. David wrote how Jehovah God rescued him from a great number of difficulties and troubles which were likened unto raging waters.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David said Jehovah God dispatched Himself from His high place and lay hold of David and rescued him out of a great number of troubles. David knew who to go to when he had difficult circumstances in his life, and when we surrender our lives to His Son Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and rescue us from “many” troubled places. All praise and glory be unto Jehovah God for His wonderful provision for mankind both in this life and in the life to come.
Next time David shares how the LORD, “delivered me from my strong enemy”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
