In Psalms chapter sixteen David wrote, “I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices: my flesh also shall rest in hope”, and in chapter sixteen and verse ten of Psalms David said, “you will not leave my soul in hell” where we read,
For you will not leave my soul in hell; neither will you suffer your Holy One to see corruption.
The verse begins, “For you will not leave my soul in hell;” David began with the words, “For you will not leave” which means “because, since and on account that you, Jehovah God, shall in no way or manner forsake, let go, neglect or apostatize ” “my soul in hell” or “my, David's, inner man, self, mind, living being, desire, emotion and passion within the underworld, grave, pit or abode of the dead”. David said Jehovah God would in no way forsake and neglect his inner man and living being to remain in the abode of the dead.
The verse goes on to say, “neither will you suffer your Holy One to see corruption.” David continued with the words, “neither will you suffer” or “no and not in anyway shall you, Jehovah God, give, bestow, allow or permit” “your Holy One” which means “your, Jehovah God's, faithful, kind, godly, pious and sacred person” “to see corruption” or “to look at, inspect, perceive or consider the pit, destruction and the grave”. David wrote how Jehovah God would not allow His “Holy One” to experience destruction within the grave.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn about this prophetic word from David. David spoke not only of his own preservation at death, but also about the Messiah Jesus to whom Peter the apostle referred on the day of pentecost in Acts chapter two and verses twenty-five thru twenty-eight that reads, “For David speaks concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: Because you will not leave my soul in hell, neither will you suffer your Holy One to see corruption. You have made known to me the ways of life; you shall make me full of joy with your countenance.” Jehovah God was to preserve His Son Jesus after He died on the cross for the sins of the world, and when people believe and trust in Him as their personal “Lord and Savior”, He will forgive them of their sins, grant them everlasting life and prevent their souls from destruction in the grave after they die. Praise be unto Jehovah God for His provision for mankind not only in this life, but also in the life to come.
Next time David says, “You will show me the path of life: in your presence is fullness of joy”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
