In Psalms chapter fourteen David wrote, “the fool has said in his heart, there is no God. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that does good, no, not one”, and in Psalms chapter fourteen and verse four David asked, “have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge?” where we read,
Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge?
Who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.
The verse begins, “Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge?” David began with the words, “Have all the workers” which means “do each, every, the whole and everyone of the discriminate, distinguished, instructed and declared makers, practicers and committers ” “of iniquity” or “belonging to trouble, sorrow, wickedness and idolatry” “no knowledge” which means “not any perception, discrimination or instruction”? David asked whether people who commit wickedness and idolatry have any perception or discrimination at all.
The verse goes on to say, “Who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.” David continue with the words, “who eat up my people” or “who devour, burn up, consume and destroy my, David's, people whether male or female” “as they eat bread” which means “like the workers of iniquity consume and devour food and grain”, “and call not upon” or “and do not cry out, utter a loud sound and summon” “the LORD” which means “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. David wrote how “workers of iniquity” consume others like they are eating food, and they do not cry out to or summon Jehovah God.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David asked whether people who commit wicked acts have any discrimination or instruction from Jehovah God because they consume others like they eat food and do not cry out to Him. In other words, these people do not seek the counsel of the LORD God because they commit wickedness and devour people rather than calling out to Him. This is not God's desire for mankind. God wants a personal loving relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when they submit themselves to Him, He will forgive their sins, grant them everlasting life and cleanse them from their devouring and self oriented ways. Praise and honor are due to the LORD God for His patient willingness to continue to reach out to mankind even when they reject His counsel and abuse others. God is for us, and we align with His plan of salvation and redemption when we yield our lives to Him.
Next time David says, “there were they in great fear”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
