In Psalms chapter eighteen David said, “In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth”, and in chapter eighteen and verse eight of Psalms David wrote about, “smoke and fire from” God where we read,
There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.
The verse begins, “There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured:” David began with the words, “There went up a smoke” which means “there arose, sprung up and ascended a vaporous dust or smoke from” “out of his nostrils” or “Jehovah God's face, ire and countenance which is reflected in the wrinkling of the nose or nostrils”, “and fire” which means “and supernatural fire representative of God's anger from” “out of his mouth devoured” or “from Jehovah's orifice in the face used for speaking and eating”. David said “smoke” arose from the wrinkled countenance of Jehovah God and “supernatural fire” extended from His mouth because of David's cry.
The verse continues, “coals were kindled by it.” David added the words, “coals were kindled” or “burning hot embers of fire were burned, consumed and removed” “by it” which means “through the means of Jehovah God's smoke and fire which proceeded from His countenance”. David wrote how “embers” were consumed by the supernatural “smoke and fire” proceeding from Jehovah God's face.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through David about Jehovah God's demeanor toward those who rise against His believers. God pours out His “supernatural smoke and fire” upon those who afflict His beloved. God loves people, and anyone who believes and trusts in His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, He will protect in this life or the next. Jehovah God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and anyone who submits to Him will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with God. Those who refuse and reject God's offer of salvation are as enemies to God and His people, and He will not allow them to continue afflicting His people forever. Praise be unto Jehovah God who is holy and righteous and will pronounce judgment and justice upon those who reject Him and His believers.
Next time David says, “He bowed the heavens also, and came down”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
