In Psalms chapter sixteen David wrote, “I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices: my flesh also shall rest in hope. For you will not leave my soul in hell; neither will you suffer your Holy One to see corruption”, and in chapter sixteen and verse eleven David said, “You will show me the path of life: in your presence is fullness of joy” where we read,
You will show me the path of life: in your presence is fullness of joy;
at your right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
The verse begins, “You will show me the path of life: in your presence is fulness of joy;” David began with the words, “you will show me” which means “you, Jehovah God, shall discriminate, distinguish, recognize and discern for me, David” “the path of life” or “the road, way or passing pertaining to living, sustenance and maintenance”: “in your presence” which means “within your, Jehovah God's, face, front and favor” “is fullness of joy” or “exists satiety, abundance and satisfying mirth, gladness, gaiety and pleasure”. David said Jehovah God would direct and distinguish the right and proper road for his living, and he emphasized that within His favor exists gladness, abundance and pleasure.
The verse continues, “at your right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” David added the words, “at your right hand or “at your, Jehovah God's, right hand of authority, power and influence” “there are pleasures” which means “there exists delightful, sweet, lovely and agreeable things” “for evermore” or “to perpetuity, strength, victory, enduring and unto everlasting”. David said at Jehovah God's right hand of authority and power exist delightful and lovely things perpetually.
When we consider the words in this verse, learn how David depended upon Jehovah God to lead his life. David knew as long as he continued within the “presence” of God, Jehovah God would direct his steps and His power and favor would insure delightful things forever. God desires to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when we submit to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and direct our path for all our lives. God wants to shine His “favor” upon us, and He is passionate about bringing eternal “pleasures” into our lives as well. Let all praise and honor be given unto Jehovah God for His willingness to involve Himself in our lives.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see David pray, “O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
