In Psalms chapter twelve David wrote, “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. You shall keep them, O LORD, you shall preserve them from this generation for ever”, and in chapter twelve and verse eight of Psalms David said, “The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted” where we read,
The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.
The verse begins, “The wicked walk on every side, ...” David began with the words, “the wicked walk” which means “the people who are criminal, guilty and hostile to God amble about and proceed” “on every side” or “from places in a circuit and all around” when the following occurs. David shared how “evil, guilty and criminal” people amble about from places all around when the following happens.
The verse goes on to say, “... when the vilest men are exalted.” David continued with the words, “when the vilest men” or “at the time and moment the worthless, tempestuous and raging people whether male and female” “are exalted” which means “are set on high, lifted up, extolled and made haughty”. David said the “wicked” exist everywhere when tempestuous and raging people are lifted up and extolled to lofty positions.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn why people who are “wicked and evil” proliferate. People who commit evil deeds and act upon their pernicious thoughts and ideas are sometimes placed in positions of authority and power, and when they “rule and reign”, more and more people become corrupt along with them. God sees the “wicked”, and their acts and deeds do not go unnoticed or without judgment from Him. First Peter chapter four and verse fives says of the wicked, “Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the alive and the dead”. He sent His Son Jesus into the world because mankind was sinful, and without a personal relationship with Him, everyone would be condemned. God wants people to come to Him, receive His Son Jesus and be forgiven of their sins to live with Him forever. Let us give praise and honor to Jehovah God for His provision for our salvation and redemption from a world filled with “vile” and “wicked” people.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see David ask, “How long will you forget me, O LORD?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
