Acceptable Words and Meditation - Psalms 19:14

In Psalms chapter nineteen David solicited Jehovah God to, “Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression”, and in chapter nineteen and verse fourteen of Psalms David said, Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, O LORD” where we read,

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, O LORD,

my strength, and my redeemer.

The verse begins, Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, ...” David began with the words, “Let the words of my mouth” which means “allow and permit the utterances, speeches, sayings, promises and commands proceeding from my, David's, physical orifice in his face used for eating and speaking, to occur, come to pass and be done” “and the meditation” or “and the resounding music, plotting and musing” “of my heart” which means “belonging to my, David's, inner man, mind, understanding, soul, emotions and passions”, “be acceptable in your sight” or “exist with pleasure, delight, favor and goodwill within your, Jehovah God's, front, face and presence”, “O LORD” which means “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. David asked Jehovah God to allow his “speech and thoughts” to be with pleasure and favor within His presence.

The verse goes on to say,my strength, and my redeemer. David continued with the words, “my strength” or “my, David's, rocky wall, cliff, block of stone and boulder”, “and my redeemer” which means “and my, David's, kinsman, avenger and deliverer”. David declared Jehovah God to be his “boulder” of stability and his “kinsman deliverer” who rescued him.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn of David's prayer to Jehovah God to watch over his speech and thoughts so they would be in alignment with His will. David knew “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks” (See Matthew 12:34), and he knew the battle of the mind is where a person makes decisions on their attitudes and actions. Jesus Christ was sent by His Father God to be the “Savior and Lord” of the world, and anyone who yields themselves to Him will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life. As “Lord” of our lives, He watches over what we say and how we think, and if we have difficulties in these areas, not only are we able to appeal to Him, but He exists as the “strength” and “deliverer” to insure that our thoughts and words align with Him.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see David say, The LORD hear you in the day of trouble, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
