Kept From Presumptuous Sins - Psalms 19:13

In Psalms chapter nineteen David asked, “Who can understand his errors? cleanse me from secret faults, and in chapter nineteen and verse thirteen of Psalms David said, Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins” where we read,

Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me:

then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

The verse begins, Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me:” David began with the words, “Keep back your servant also” which means “withhold, restrain and keep in check, your, Jehovah God's, slave, worshiper and bondman even so and indeed” “from presumptuous sins” or “apart and separated from arrogant, proud and insolent errors, wrongs and transgressions”; “let them not have dominion over me” which means “do not allow the presumptuous sins to rule and reign over me, David”. David asked Jehovah God to restrain him from arrogant and proud transgressions and wrongs, and to not allow them to dominate and rule over him.

The verse continues, then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. David added the words, “then shall I be upright” or “at that time and in that case will I, David, exist as complete, finished and unimpaired”, “and I shall be innocent” which means “and I, David, will exist as clear, empty and free from guilt” “from the great transgression” or “apart and separate from the numerous, abundant and strong rebellion and revolt”. David wrote that the result of God keeping him from “presumptuous sins” would be that he would live “complete, pure, free from guilt and apart” from the strong rebellion and revolt against God Himself.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how David depended upon Jehovah God to restrain him from arrogant and proud sins, and the result would be that he would be “pure and clean” from the greatest “transgression” of all which is rebellion against God. God desires to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when we submit to Him, He will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (See 1 John 1:9) We align with God's plan of salvation for mankind when we surrender to Jesus, and for all eternity we shall give Him praise and honor not only for knowing us, but also for preserving us from any “sins” that would keep us from being with Him.

Next time David says, Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
