In Psalms chapter nineteen David wrote, “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes”, and in chapter nineteen and verse nine of Psalms David said, “the fear of the LORD is clean” where we read,
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever:
the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
The verse begins, “The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever:” David began with the words, “the fear” which means “the dread, terror, awe and reverence” “of the LORD” or “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “is clean” which means “exists as ceremonially pure both morally and ethically”, “enduring for ever” or “standing, remaining and persisting into perpetuity, continuously and without end”. David declared that “awe and reverence” of Jehovah God is not only pure, but it will last unto perpetuity.
The verse continues, “the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.” David added the words, “the judgments” or “the justice, ordinances, sentences, decisions and executions” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “are true” or “exist as right, firm, faithful, stable and sure” “and righteous altogether” which means “and all together and unitedly just, vindictive and cleansing”. David wrote how Jehovah God's sentences, decisions and executions are not only right, firm and faithful, but also just, vindictive and cleansing.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David added “the fear” and “the judgments” of the LORD to his list of the attributes of the “law” and “commands” of Jehovah God. David began this Psalm with an observance of God's creative ability in the universe, and he moved toward the “statues and commands” Jehovah has given to mankind by which to live. God is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent, and He knows what is best for our lives. When we have awe and reverence toward Him, we will understand why He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins. Without payment for our sins, we would have to pay the price ourselves, and Jehovah God, Creator of the Universe and faithful law giver of commands and mandates that are clean, everlasting, true and righteous, wanted us to live forever with Him. Let all praise be unto God for His faithfulness and willingness to extend to all who believe in His Son Jesus forgiveness, grace, mercy and eternal life with Him in Heaven.
Next time David says, “More to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
