Called of Jesus Christ Romans 1:6

Paul the apostle shared with church in Rome how Jesus was, “declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead”, and he added, “By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:”. In chapter one and verse six of Romans Paul told the church members in Rome they were, “the called of Jesus Christ” where we read:

Among whom are you also the called of Jesus Christ:

The verse begins, “Among whom are you also ...” Paul began with the words, “among whom” or “with and by what” “are you also” or “were the church members even so and indeed”. Paul referred to how the church members were “even and indeed” as he is about to proclaim.

The verse continues, “... the called of Jesus Christ:”. Paul added the words, “the called” which means “the invited, divinely selected and appointed” “of Jesus” whose name means “Jehovah is salvation” and is “the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate” “Christ” which means “the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God”. Paul named the church members in Rome as the “divinely selected and appointed” ones who belong to “Jesus, the Messiah”.

When we meditate upon these words of Paul, we see how he identified the church members with those “among all nations” who received Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”. Jesus Christ made Himself available for everyone to be His own, and those who are wise shall submit themselves to Him and receive His offer to His “called”.

Next time Paul declares to whom his letter is written, “to all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then,
