Grace and Peace To All that Be in Rome Romans 1:7

Paul the apostle shared with church in Rome how Jesus was, “declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:”, and he added, “By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:”. Paul continued, “Among whom are you also the called of Jesus Christ:”, and in chapter one and verse seven of Romans Paul declared to whom his letter was written, “to all that be in Rome” where we read:

To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The verse begins, “To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints:” Paul began with the words, “to all” or “to each, every, the whole and everyone” “that be in Rome” or “who is in the famous capital of the ancient world that means “strength”, “beloved” which means “esteemed, dear, favorite and worthy of love” “of God” which refers to “those who belong to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”, “called” or “invited, divinely selected and appointed” “to be saints” which means “to be pure, morally blameless and ceremonially consecrated” ones. Paul wrote this letter to “everyone” who lived in “Rome” whom Paul considered “the esteemed and dear” ones of God and who were “divinely selected” to be “pure and morally blameless” people.

The verse goes on to say, “Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.”. Paul continued with the word, “Grace” which means “that which affords joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, charm, loveliness, good will, loving-kindness and unmerited favor” “to you” which refers to “the church members in Rome” “and peace” or “tranquility, security, safety, prosperity and felicity” “from God” which refers to “from the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “our Father” or “Paul and his companions' generator, originator and transmitter”, “and the Lord” which means “and he to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of deciding; master and the title given to God the Messiah” “Jesus” whose name means “Jehovah is Salvation” and is “the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate” “Christ” which refers to “the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God”. Paul greeted the Roman church members with both God's “grace” and “peace” which comes through Jesus Christ the Lord.

When we think through these words of Paul, we discover to whom he was writing this letter. “Rome” was a city Paul desired to visit, and many speculate that he felt if he were to share the gospel there, it would spread worldwide. Paul addressed those who were in Rome with “charis” and “eirēnē” or “grace and peace” which were employed as greetings in those days. “God our Father” and His Son “Jesus Christ” who is “Lord” originated these attributes, and the moment a person receives “the grace” of God, they shall enjoy “peace” with God as well. Jesus Christ is ready to receive all who will submit their lives to Him, and when they do so, “grace and peace” follow close behind.

Next time Paul tells the church in Rome, “your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then,
