Concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord Romans 1:3

Paul the apostle began his letter to the church in Rome by stating his name and position in God's kingdom with these words, “Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,”, and he added, “(Which he had promised before by his prophets in the holy scriptures)”. In chapter one and verse three of Romans Paul shared, “concerning” God's “Son Jesus Christ our Lord” where we read:

Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord,
which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

The verse begins, “Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord,...” Paul began with the word, “concerning” which means “about, on account and because of” “his Son” which refers to “God's only begotten, loved and protected one” “Jesus” whose name means “Jehovah is Salvation” and is “the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate” “our Lord” which means “Paul and his companion's one to whom a person or thing belongs about which he has power of deciding; master and the title given to God the Messiah”. Paul shared how the “gospel of God” was “on account of Jesus who is the Christ and the Son of God”.

The verse goes on to say, “... which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;”. Paul continued with the words, “which was made” which means “who was fashioned, formed, arisen and come into existence” “of the seed” or “after the germination and vital force or life giving power” “of David” whose name means “beloved” “who was “the second king of Israel” “according” which means “down from, through out, toward and along” “to the flesh” or “the soft substance of the living body which covers the bones and is permeated with blood”. Paul referred to the way Jesus was “born” as a human who was in the line of King David.

When we meditate upon these words of Paul, we see his focus upon “Jesus Christ” who is the author and progenitor of the “gospel of God”. Jesus came to the earth in the flesh that He might provide “salvation” to sinful man, and everyone who believes and trusts in Him shall be saved. This is the “gospel of God”, and may everyone who considers these words receive “Jesus” as their personal “Savior and Lord”.

Next time Paul continued his introduction to the church as he spoke of how God, “declared” Jesus to be the Son of God with power”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then,
