Diseased and Possessed Brought to Jesus - Mark 1:32

Mark wrote as Jesus and his disciples, “were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her. And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them”, and in chapter one and verse thirty-two of his book, Mark wrote how people, “brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils” where we read:

And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased,

and them that were possessed with devils.

The verse reads, “And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, ... Mark began with the words, “and at even” which means “and at the evening time”, “when the sun did set” or “at the time and moment when the sun was setting on the horizon”, “they brought unto him” which means “people bore, carried and produce to Jesus” “all that were diseased”or “each, every, the whole and everyone of the people who were grievously, miserably and improperly ill”. Mark shared how people carried and led others to Jesus who were affected with “miserable illnesses”.

The verse continues, “... and them that were possessed with devils.” Mark continued with the words, “and them” which means “and the people” “that were possessed with devils” which means “who were under the power of devils or demons”. Mark shared how people led others to Jesus who were “demon possessed”.

When we consider Mark's words in this verse, we see the reaction of the people who knew Jesus had power over “sickness, disease and evil spirits”. They carried and led people to Him because they knew He could overcome whatever problem they were experiencing. Those who were “diseased”, He would heal. For those who were “demon possessed”, He would cast the “devil” out. Jesus stood ready to minister to people's needs, and their greatest need was be delivered from their “sins” so they might have “everlasting life” with God. May all who read these words bring all their “needs” to Jesus, allow Him to minister to them, and receive Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”.

Next time Mark shares how, “all the city was gathered together”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
