Jesus Again by the Sea Side - Mark 2:13

Mark wrote how Jesus said to a “paralytic man” brought to him, “Son, your sins be forgiven you”, and the “scribes” were questioning His statement. When Jesus knew what they were asking, He answered them by saying, “that you may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, (he said to the sick of the palsy) , I say unto you, Arise, and take up your bed, and go your way into your house. And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion”, and in chapter two and verse thirteen of his book, Mark shares how Jesus, “went forth again by the sea sidewhere we read:

And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.

The verse reads, “And he went forth again by the sea side; Mark began with the words, “and he went forth again” which means “and Jesus left and departed another time” “by the sea side” or “beside the Galilean sea shore”. Mark shared how Jesus “again” went out and walked on the “shore” of the sea of Galilee.

The verse continues, and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.” Mark added the words, “and all the multitude” which means “and each, every, the whole and everyone in the crowd or throng of people” “resorted unto him” or “made their appearance publicly and followed after Jesus”, “and he taught them” which means “and Jesus instructed, instilled doctrine within and expounded instruction to the people gathered”. Mark shared how everyone in the “multitude” gathered to Jesus, and He instructed them while they surrounded Him.

When we meditate upon Mark's words in this verse, we see Jesus travel to the “shore” of “the sea of Galilee” again where people “thronged” Him, so Jesus continued to “teach” them there. It is interesting to note that Jesus “taught” people where they were, and though they were not in a “synagogue” or “sacred worship center”, He still gave instruction to them. God loves people to learn from Him and His word, and those who are wise shall seek God's word about His Son Jesus and yield their lives not only to the greatest teacher who ever lived, but also to the One who is able to “save them from their sins”.

Next time Mark shares how Jesus, saw Levi the son of Alphaeus”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
