Teach Whatever Jesus Commanded - Matthew 28:20

Matthew the apostle wrote how, “the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshiped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”, and in chapter twenty-eight and verse twenty of his book, Matthew wrote how Jesus continued His words by saying, “teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you” where we read:

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:

and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

The verse reads, “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: Matthew began words, “Teaching them” which means “instructing and holding didactic discourses with each and every nation who believes” “to observe all things” or “to attend to, carefully guard and keep each, every, the whole and everyone of the ideas and ways” “whatsoever I have commanded you” or “as great as, as far as, how much and however many things that Jesus ordered or enjoined his disciples”. Matthew shared how Jesus told His disciples to “instruct” everyone in “everything” He “commanded” them.

The verse goes on to say, and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew continued with the words, “and, lo” or “and look and see”, “I am with you alway” which means “Jesus is alongside His disciples at all times”, “even unto the end” or “till the completion and consummation” “of the world” which means “belonging to the unbroken age, perpetuity of time and forever”. “Amen” or “let it be so or so be it”. Matthew shared how Jesus said He would be “with” His disciples “forever”, and he affirmed it with “let it be so”.

When we consider Matthew's words in this verse, we see how Jesus continued His “Great Commission” as He told His “disciples” to “instruct” people concerning “everything” He “commanded” them. They were not only to share the “salvation” Jesus offers through faith in His finished work of the cross and resurrection from the grave, but they were to “teach” people “everything” Jesus told them. God loves people, and when they receive Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, they are “born again” and begin to “grow” in their relationship with God. Let all who read these words yield their lives to the “salvation” and “abundant life” Jesus offers to all who “believe”.

Next time we begin the gospel according to Mark, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
