Coming to Jerusalem - Ezra 8:32

In the book of Ezra, Ezra said, “so took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God. Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way”, and in chapter eight and verse thirty-two of Ezra, Ezra said, “we came to Jerusalem” where we read,

And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.

The verse reads, And we came to Jerusalem, ...” Ezra began with the words, “and we came” which means “and we, Ezra, the chief men and the Nethinims arrived and entered” “to Jerusalem” or “into Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split”. Ezra shared how he, the chief men and the Nethinims arrived and entered the city of “Jerusalem”.

The verse goes on to say, “… and abode there three days. Ezra continued with the words, “and abode there which means “and dwelled, remained, rested and stayed in Jerusalem” “three days” which means “three sunrises to sunsets”.Ezra shared how he, the chief men and the Nethinims dwelled at “Jerusalem” for “three sunrises to sunsets”.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Ezra how he, the chief men and the Nethinims arrived in“Jerusalem” where they rested for “three sunrises to sunsets”. Their travels were complete, and they arrived under the protection and provision of Jehovah God. God was working His will in and through Ezra and his entourage, and He will do the same for us when we put our faith and trust in His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. When we yield to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a passion as well as a time to rest so we complete that which He has given us opportunity to do. (See Philippians 1:6)

Next time Ezra tells what happened, “on the fourth day”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
