In the book of Ezra, Ezra shared how king Artaxerxes of Persia wrote in a letter to him, “I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers which are beyond the river, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily, unto an hundred talents of silver, and to an hundred measures of wheat, and to an hundred baths of wine, and to an hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much”, and in chapter seven and verse twenty-three of Ezra, Ezra shared how Artaxerxes wrote about, “whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven” where we read,
Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven: for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?
The verse reads, “Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven:” Ezra began with the words, “whatsoever is commanded” which means “whatever exists as judged, reported and was held in discretion” “by the God of heaven” which means “through the means of the Supreme Deity within the visible sky, atmosphere and sidereal heavens where Jehovah God and other spiritual beings abide”, “let it be diligently done” or “allow and permit the distribution of the worship items to be ” “for the house of God of heaven” which means “on behalf of the habitation, abode and dwelling place pertaining to the Supreme Deity within the visible sky, atmosphere and sidereal heavens where Jehovah God and other spiritual beings abide”. Ezra shared how “Artaxerxes” also said whatever Jehovah God in “Heaven” ordered for Ezra and the people of Israel, they were to allow it to be performed.
The verse continues, “for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?” Ezra added the words, “for why should there be wrath” which means “because, since and on account for what reason was there to exist rage and anger that wrinkles the nostrils and nose” “against the realm” or “in opposition to the royalty, rule, reign and kingdom” “of the king” which means “belonging to the royal ruler and leader” “and his sons” or “and his, king Artaxerxes', male offsprings and progenies”? Ezra shared how “Artaxerxes” questioned for what reason his kingdom and offspring should have exceeding anger in opposition to them.
When we consider the words in this verse, we discover through Ezra how “Artaxerxes” commanded that whatever was ordered by Jehovah God for the people of Israel, his people were to perform it, and not make him, his offspring and his kingdom subject to anger. “Artaxerxes” was motivated to help the people of Israel, and God used him to accomplish His will. (Proverbs 21:1) God loves the people of Israel, and He was reestablishing them in their city, helping them rebuild their temple and giving them what they needed to worship Him. God loves us as well, and when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, He made the way for us to be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and lead to be diligently performing His will and purpose in the world.
Next time Ezra shares how Artaxerxes writes about, “touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims or ministers”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
