In the book of Ezra, Ezra shared how king Artaxerxes of Persia wrote in a letter to him, “whatsoever shall seem good to you, and to your brethren, to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do after the will of your God”, and in chapter seven and verse nineteen of Ezra, Ezra shared how Artaxerxes wrote what to do with, “the vessels also that are given you” where we read,
The vessels also that are given you for the service of the house of your God,
those deliver you before the God of Jerusalem.
The verse reads, “The vessels also that are given you for the service of the house of your God, ...” Ezra began with the words, “the vessels also” which means “the utensils even so and indeed” “that are given you” which means “which are granted, bestowed and delivered to you, Ezra” “for the service of the house” or “on behalf of the pertaining to the worship belonging to the habitation, abode and dwelling place” “of your God” which means “belonging to your, Ezra's, Supreme Deity”. Ezra shared how “Artaxerxes” also told “Ezra” the utensils for the worship within the dwelling place of God were also granted to him.
The verse continues, “… those deliver you before the God of Jerusalem.” Ezra added the words, “those deliver you”which means “those, the utensils for the temple of Jehovah God, you, Ezra, complete, furnish and render in full” “before the God” or “in front and within the presence of the Supreme Deity” “of Jerusalem” which means “belonging to Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split”. Ezra shared how “Artaxerxes” instructed that the temple utensils be rendered in full in the presence of the Supreme Deity belonging to “Jerusalem”.
When we think through Ezra's words in this verse, we learn how “Artaxerxes” also told him that the temple utensils were to be rendered in full in the presence of Jehovah God who is the Supreme Deity. God was putting together every implement for the people of Israel to worship Him and make Him ruler of their lives, and He used “Artaxerxes” and “Ezra” to fulfill His will. God wants all people to believe and trust in His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of the whole world. When we put our faith and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us the wisdom through His Holy Spirit to use whatever He supplies to build and promote His Kingdom and worship.
Next time Ezra shares how Artaxerxes wrote about, “whatsoever more shall be needful”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
