The Righteous God of Israel - Ezra 9:15

In the book of Ezra, Ezra asked, Should we again break your commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? would not you be angry with us till you had consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?”, and in chapter nine and verse fifteen of Ezra, Ezra said, “O LORD God of Israel, you are righteous”, where we read,

O LORD God of Israel, you are righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before you in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before you because of this.

The verse reads, O LORD God of Israel, you are righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as it is this day:” Ezra began with the words, “O LORD God” which means “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True Supreme Deity” “of Israel” or “belonging to Israel whose name means God prevails and is the name of the descendants and nation of descendants of Jacob”, “you are righteous” which means “you, Jehovah God, exist as just, lawful and correct”: “for we remain yet escaped” or “because, since and on account that we, Ezra and the people of Israel, still exist as left over, spared and reserved”, “as it is this day” which means “similar and in likeness to the way the current time period or season exists”. Ezra told Jehovah God who belonged to the nation of “Israel” is just, correct and lawful, because he and the people of Israel continued to be reserved within the present time.

The verse continues, behold, we are before you in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before you because of this. Ezra added the words, “behold, we are before you” which means “lo, look and consider, we, Ezra and the people of Israel, exist within the presence and in front of you, Jehovah God” “in our trespasses” which means “within our, Ezra and the people of Israel's, guiltiness, offense, sin and wrong-doing”: “for we cannot stand before you” or “because, since and on account that we, Ezra and the people of Israel, are unable to remain, endure, continue and persist in the presence and front of you, Jehovah God” “because of this” which means “since and on account of this, the people of Israel's, wrong-doing”.Ezra shared called upon Jehovah God to consider that he and the people of Israel were within His presence in their sin and wrong-doing because they were unable to remain in front of Him on account of their wickedness.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Ezra made a declaration to Jehovah God concerning His lawful and just ways even unto the current season, and God proved it because Ezra and the people of Israel were in front of Jehovah God with their wickedness to the degree that they were unable to continue in His presence. God knows our sin, and our wickedness is before Him every day. For this reason He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross to pay the penalty of death for the sins of all the world, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to value His grace and mercy even though our wrong-doing is ever before Him.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see Ezra share what happened when he, “had prayed”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
