Paul
the apostle told the church members in Corinth how “all
our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea”,
and he added, “and were all baptized
unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;” In
chapter ten and verse three of First Corinthians, Paul told the
church members how they,
“did all eat the same spiritual meat”
where we read:
And
did all eat the same spiritual meat;
The
verse begins, “And did all eat
...” Paul
began with the words, “and did all”
which means “in addition, even, also each, every, the whole and
everyone of the Israelites did” “eat”
or
“devoured or consumed”. Paul referred to the “devouring” and
“consumption” of the people of Israel as they walked through the
wilderness.
The
verse goes on to say, “ … the
same spiritual meat;” Paul
continued with the words, “the same”
or “the
like” “spiritual”
which means “belonging to the Divine Spirit” “meat”
which refers to “food”. Paul referred to the “food” which was
provided in the wilderness as he related it to the “spiritual”
nourishment
that is available to all who receive Jesus.
When
we consider these words from Paul, we note how the Israelites “all”
“consumed and devoured” the same food in the wilderness which was
manifested in the “manna” or the “quail” which God provided.
Paul referred to it as “spiritual” food which connected
the people with God. Jesus Christ desires to have a relationship with
everyone who will believe in Him as Savior and Lord, and the
nourishment they receive from the word of God is useful not only in
bringing them to Jesus, but also sustaining their relationship with
Him.
Next
time Paul told the church members, “all
drink the same spiritual drink: because,
“they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them”
and he added, “and that Rock
was Christ.”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
