Mark wrote how Jesus spoke about the end of the age and said, “in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be. And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he has chosen, he has shortened the days. And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not. For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect”, and in chapter thirteen and verse twenty-three of his book, Mark shared how Jesus says, “take you heed: behold, I have foretold you all things” where we read:
But take you heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.
The verse reads, “But take you heed:” Mark began with the word, “but” or “however, nevertheless, notwithstanding, moreover” “take you heed” which means “see, discern, be possessed of sight and have the power of perceiving”. Mark shared how Jesus warned His disciples to “discern and perceive” the following.
The verse continues, “behold, I have foretold you all things.” Mark added the word, “behold” which means “look, lo and consider”, “I have foretold you” or “Jesus said in advance, heretofore and before” “all things” or “each, every, the whole and everything Jesus declared”. Mark shared how Jesus told His disciples all these things before they came to pass.
When we consider Mark's words in this verse, we see Jesus warning His disciples. Jesus cares for people, and His desire is to have a personal loving relationship with them. God sent His Son Jesus to “die” on the cross for the “sins” of the world which separated people from Him, and when they believe and trust in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”, they shall not only be “saved” but also receive “everlasting life”.
Next time Mark shares how Jesus says, “in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
