Jesus has Said the Truth - Mark 12:32

Mark wrote how, “one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is none other commandment greater than these”, and in chapter twelve and verse thirty-two of his book, Mark shared how the scribe says, “Well, Master, you have said the truth” where we read:

And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, you have said the truth:

for there is one God; and there is none other but he:

The verse reads, “And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, you have said the truth:” Mark began with the words, “and the scribe” which means “and the man learned in the Mosaic law and in the sacred writings and served as an interpreter and teacher” “said unto him” or “uttered, declared and proclaimed to Jesus”, “well, Master” which means “beautiful, excellent, fine and right teacher”, “you have said the truth” or “Jesus you have uttered, declared and proclaimed that which is reality, fact and certain”. Mark shared how the “scribe” admitted to Jesus that He declared that which was “excellent” and “truthful”.

The verse goes on to say, for there is one God; and there is none other but he: Mark continued with the words, “for there is one God” which means “because, since and on account that there exists only one certain and particular Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”; “and there is none other” or “and there exists not one single other god” “but he” which means “except God Himself”. Mark shared how the “scribe” agreed with Jesus as He declared there was only “one God” and there exists no other god than He.

When we meditate upon Mark's words in this verse, we see how this “scribe” seems to be coming closer to a relationship with Jesus as He agreed with Him. Many of the other “religious leaders” only desired to “argue with” and “oppose” Jesus, and this man had to admit that Jesus answered Him brilliantly. God's desire is to have a loving personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and although they may have questions for Him, when they come to Him in sincerity, and not just attempting to prove their position, He is willing to answer them and bring them to the “truth”. Jesus Christ waits with open arms to receive every person, even doubters, who will simply come to Him, turn from their sinful ways and begin to follow His direction for their lives. Come. He will receive you.

Next time Mark shares how Jesus tells what is, “more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices” so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
