Mark wrote how Jesus, “sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately. Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled? And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you: For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And when you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars, be you not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows. But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues you shall be beaten: and you shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them”, and in chapter thirteen and verse ten of his book, Mark shared how Jesus tells His disciples, “the gospel must first be published among all nations” where we read:
And the gospel must first be published among all nations.
The verse reads, “And the gospel must first be published ...” Mark began with the words, “and the gospel” or “and the glad tidings and good news of God's Kingdom” “must first be published” or “it is behooved and necessary principally and as a priority to herald, proclaim and publish openly”. Mark shared how Jesus said it is a priority and “necessity” for God's “good news” of “salvation” through His Son Jesus to be “proclaimed and heralded”.
The verse goes on to say, “... among all nations.” Mark continued with the words, “among all” which means “throughout each, every and the whole of” “nations” or “people groups and multitudes of individuals of the same nature or genus”. Mark shared how Jesus declared that His “gospel” would be published and proclaimed throughout all the nations of the world.
When we think through Mark's words in this verse, we see how Jesus declared that among all the other events which will occur in the world, “the gospel” would be spread out so every “nation” would be able to hear God's “plan of salvation” for mankind. “God so loved the world” (See John 3:16), and His desire is for every person, from every nation, to receive His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”. Those who submit their lives to Him shall be “saved”, and even though catastrophic events will occur in the world and they may be persecuted for their beliefs, God will grant them “everlasting life” with Him in Heaven.
Next time Mark shares how Jesus said, “when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do you premeditate”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
