Mark wrote how Jesus told His disciples, “Take you heed, watch and pray: for you know not when the time is. For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch you therefore: for you know not when the master of the house comes, at even, or at midnight, or at the cock-crowing, or in the morning. Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping”, and in chapter thirteen and verse thirty-seven of his book, Mark shared how Jesus says, “what I say to you I say to all, Watch”, where we read:
And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.
The verse reads, “And what I say unto you ...” Mark began with the words, “and what I say” or “of that which Jesus utters, declares and proclaims” “unto you” which means “to His disciples”. Mark shared how Jesus directed His next statement toward His disciples.
The verse goes on to say, “... I say unto all, Watch.” Mark continued with the words, “I say” which means “Jesus utters, declares and proclaims” “unto all” or “to each, every, the whole and everyone”, “Watch” which means “give strict attention to, be cautious, be active, wake and be active”. Mark shared how Jesus' word to His disciples as well as to every person was to “give strict attention to and be cautiously awake” concerning the things of which He spoke.
When we think through Mark's words in this verse, we see how Jesus reiterated His warning and charge for His disciples to “Watch” and be mindful of the signs of the time. He expanded that “order” to every person, and those who are wise will obey what He said. God's desire is for everyone to follow Him through yielding to His Son Jesus, however, should a person refuse and reject Jesus, they should be aware of all the signs of which Jesus spoke because they are coming upon believers and unbelievers alike. “Watch”.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see Mark share, “After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
