In Psalms chapter forty one David said, “My enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?”, and in chapter forty one and verse six of Psalms David said, “if he come to see me, he speaks vanity” where we read,
And if he come to see me, he speaks vanity:
his heart gathers iniquity to itself; when he goes abroad, he tells it.
The verse begins, “And if he come to see me, he speaks vanity:” David began with the words, “and if he come to see me” or “and whether and in case he, David's enemy, enters and causes himself to observe, notice, inspect and give attention to me, David”, “he speaks vanity” which means “he, David's enemy, utters, declares and proclaims emptiness, falsehood, nothingness, lying and worthlessness”. David said in case his “enemy” approaches him to observe him, his enemy utters and declares falsehood and worthlessness.
The verse goes on to say, “his heart gathers iniquity to itself; when he goes abroad, he tells it.” David continued with the words, “his heart” or “the soul, mind, will, inner man, knowledge, thinking, reflection, memory, inclination, resolution and determination” “gathers iniquity to itself” which means “assembles, collects and heaps up trouble, wickedness, sorrow and wickedness to it's own self”; “when he goes abroad” or “at the time and moment he, David's enemy, proceeds, goes forth and departs”, “he tells it” which means “he, David's enemy, speaks about, declares, converses, commands, promises, warns and threatens his vanity”. David wrote how his enemy assembles wickedness and depravity within within his own self, and everywhere they journey they proclaim their sin.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David knew when his “hating foe” approached him, he would speak of nothingness and falsehood. He said his “enemy” assembles sin to himself and as he makes his way, he proclaims his ill will to others. Misery loves company, and when people “hate” us for aligning with God's plan of salvation through His Son Jesus, we may be assured that not only will they assemble together in their opposing groups, and they will talk about us and our stand with God. Jehovah God, however, will be the final judge of all people, and because He loves us, He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for all our sins. When we submit ourselves to Jesus Christ as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and defend us against anyone who opposes our commitment to Him.
Next time David says, “all that hate me whisper together against me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
