In Psalms chapter forty two David asked, “Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted in me? hope you in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember you from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar”, and in chapter forty two and verse seven of Psalms David said, “Deep calls unto deep” where we read,
Deep calls unto deep at the noise of your waterspouts:
all your waves and your billows are gone over me.
The verse begins, “Deep calls unto deep at the noise of your waterspouts:” David began with the words, “Deep calls unto deep” or “the subterranean waters or abyss proclaims, utters a loud sound, summons and invites the subterranean waters or abyss” “at the noise” which means “at the voice, sound, bleating and cry” “of your waterspouts” or “pertaining to your, Jehovah God's, water conduits, gutters or culverts”. David said the waves and tumults of the seas sound aloud at Jehovah God's voice of water conduits.
The verse goes on to say, “all your waves and your billows are gone over me.” David continues with the words, “all your waves” or “each, every, the whole and everyone of your, Jehovah God's, breakers of the sea” “and your billows” which means “and your, Jehovah God's, surging tides, heaps and springs of water” “are gone over me” or “are swept, passed over, by or through me, David”. David said every one of Jehovah God's breakers of the sea and heaping springs of water have overflowed him.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David likens his circumstances to the raging waves and surging tides of the sea. Emotions are often like that. They rise and fall, rise and fall, and those who endure difficulties and troubles know how this feels. Jehovah God knew we would be emotional people, and He also knew we would have sin in our lives. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for our sins, and when we submit ourselves to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and sustain us regardless of how many raging tides we must endure. Because of Jesus, we can commit ourselves to His keeping and know He will be with us as the emotions rise and fall like the waves of the sea.
Next time David says, “the LORD will commend his lovingkindness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
