In Psalms chapter forty four David said, “We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work you did in their days, in the times of old. How you did drive out the heathen with your hand, and planted them; how you did afflict the people, and cast them out. For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your countenance, because you had a favor unto them”, and in chapter forty four and verse four of Psalms David said, “you are my king, O God” where we read,
You are my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.
The verse begins, “You are my King, O God:” David began with the words, “you are my king” or “you, Jehovah God, exist as my, David's, royal ruler”, “O God” which means “O Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. David declared Jehovah God to be his royal ruler as he appealed to him for the following.
The verse continues, “command deliverances for Jacob.” David added the words, “command deliverances” or “charge, give orders, appoint and ordain salvation, rescue, welfare and prosperity” “for Jacob” which means “on behalf of Jacob whose name means heel holder or supplanter and refers to the son of Isaac, grandson of Abraham and father of the twelve patriarchs of the tribes of Israel”. David appealed to Jehovah God to order and appoint salvation and rescue for the tribes of Israel.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David declared Jehovah God to be his royal ruler as he asked him to order rescue and salvation for Israel. God loved David, and David loved the people of Israel. David knew Jehovah God could at any time order the salvation of Israel, so he poured out his heart to Him. God wants us to come to Him through His Son Jesus with any difficulties we encounter, and whether they are personal or for our nation, God is attentive to our prayers when we have submitted to His Son Jesus. God sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind which is the greatest problem people have. When we yield to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and listen to our pleas when we need deliverance and rescue in times of affliction.
Next time David says, “through you will we push down our enemies”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
