My Heart Inditing a Good Matter - Psalms 45:1

Psalms chapter forty five begins with the heading, “[[To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, for the sons of Korah, Maschil, A Song of loves.]]” which breaks down, “To the chief Musician” or “to the preeminent, overseeing superintendent or chief choir director” “upon Shoshannim” which means “on any lily-like flower used as an architectural ornament which was white and also as a straight trumpet from the tubular shape”, “for the sons of Korah” or “on behalf of the descendants or male children and grandchildren belonging to Korah whose name means bald”, “Maschil” which means “an instructive and didactic song or poem of contemplation”, “A Song of loves” or “a musical and lyrical religious son pertaining to our amiable well-beloved”, and in chapter forty five and verse one of Psalms David said, “My heart is inditing a good matter” where we read,

My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king:

my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

The verse begins, My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: David began with the words, “My heart” or “my, David's, inner man, mind, will, understanding, soul, knowledge, thinking, reflection, memory, inclination, resolution and determination” “is indicting” which means “is moving, stirring or fluttering” “a good matter” or “a pleasant, agreeable, rich and valuable speech, word, speaking, utterance, business, occupation and manner”: “I speak” which means “I, David, utter, declare and proclaim” “of the things” or “pertaining to the deeds, acts, business, undertaking and achievements” “which I have made” which means “that I, David, produce and provided” “touching the king” or “related to the royal ruler”. David shared how his soul was stirring with a valuable speech as he declared words about the royal ruler.

The verse goes on to say,my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.” David continued with the words, “my tongue” or “my, David's, wedge in his mouth used for speaking language” “is the pen” which means “exists as the stylus with a diamond tip used to write on stone or metal or reed” “of a ready writer” or “belonging to a quick, prompt, skilled and diligent recounter, one who rehearses or relates”. David said his “tongue” was like a diamond tipped stylus that is used by a skillful “writer”.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David's mind was fluttering with the idea of uttering and declaring valuable and pleasant things about the royal ruler, and his “tongue” was skilled to share through his written words. David was inspired and skilled by Jehovah God to write many things not only about the Royal King, God Himself. David knew God to be merciful, kind, good and loving, and he wanted others to know Him as their LORD. God loves people, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of all mankind. God desires to have a personal relationship with people, and when we surrender ourselves to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. God is to be praised, and anyone who uses their “tongues” and voices to share about Him will be blessed by Him for all eternity.

Next time David says, “You are fairer than the children of men, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
