In Psalms chapter forty five David said, “Gird your sword upon your thigh, O most mighty, with your glory and your majesty. And in your majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and your right hand shall teach you terrible things”, and in chapter forty five and verse five of Psalms David said, “your arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies” where we read,
Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under you.
The verse begins, “Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies;” David began with the words, “Your arrows are sharp” or “your, Jehovah God's, whet, piercing and inculcate archery arrows afflicting a wound” “in the heart” which means “within the inner man, mind, understanding, knowledge, thinking, reflection, memory, inclination, resolution, determination and conscience” “of the king's enemies” or “belonging to the royal ruler's hating foes and adversaries”. David referred to the “archery arrows” of Jehovah God which penetrated the soul of His hating foes and adversaries.
The verse goes on to say, “whereby the people fall under you.” David continued with the words, “whereby the people fall” or “through which reason and cause the human beings both male and female are cast down, prostrate and wasted” “under you” which means “at a lower place and beneath you, Jehovah God”. David said “people both male and female” are cast down and prostrate beneath the soul piercing arrows of Jehovah God.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David knew the power of Jehovah God's “piercing arrows” against His “hating foes”. David knew “people” would be cast beneath Jehovah God when He took action against them. Paul the apostle wrote, “there is none righteous, no, not one” (See Romans 3:10), and “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. (See Romans 3:23. He also wrote, “for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”. (See Romans 6:23). In other words, no one could stand against God should they attempt to do so. God loves people, and He will be merciful and gracious to every person who yields their life to His Son Jesus who came to the earth to die for the sins of all mankind. God is willing to forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him if we will believe and trust in His Son Jesus, and as we do, let us give Him praise and honor for His “sharp arrows” that penetrate our souls and draw us close to Him.
Next time David says, “Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
