In Psalms chapter forty four David said, “We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work you did in their days, in the times of old”, and in chapter forty four and verse two of Psalms David said, “How you did drive out the heathen with your hand, and planted them” where we read,
How you did drive out the heathen with your hand, and planted them;
how you did afflict the people, and cast them out.
The verse begins, “How you did drive out the heathen with your hand, and planted them;” David began with the words, “How you did drive out” or “in the way and manner that you, Jehovah God, seized, dispossessed and impoverished” “the heathen with your hand” which means “the non-believing, non-Hebrew and foreign nations by the use of your, Jehovah God's, right hand of authority, power, strength and might”, “and planted them” or “and fastened, fixed and established the heathen”. David gave an example of the historical acts and deeds of Jehovah God as he referred to when He expelled the non-believing and foreign nations by His power and might and establish them in their own place.
The verse continues, “how you did afflict the people, and cast them out.” David added the words, “how you did afflict the people” or “in the way and manner that you, Jehovah God, hurt, did injury to, broke and shattered the heathen people”, “and cast them out” which means “and sent away, dismissed, put away and impelled the heathen”. David referred to the way Jehovah God did injury to, broke and shattered the “heathen” and dispelled them from their location.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David recalled a time when Jehovah God not only drove away the unbelieving people with His power, but He also set and established them in a place away from David's forefathers. God also injured and shattered those ungodly nations and threw them away. God invites all people to come to Him through His Son Jesus, (See John 14:6) and anyone who receives Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with God. But should people reject and refuse God's offer, He will attend to the unbelievers in the world while we who believe give Him praise, honor and glory for all eternity for His precious gift of salvation and deliverance from the world's wickedness.
Next time David says, “they got not the land in possession by their own sword”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
