In Psalms chapter forty four David said, “Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from your way. Though you have sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death. If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god”, and in chapter forty four and verse twenty-one of Psalms David tells what happens as he asked, “shall not God search this out?” where we read,
Shall not God search this out? for he knows the secrets of the heart.
The verse begins, “Shall not God search this out?” David began with the words, “shall not God” or “will not the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “search this out” which means “examine, explore and ascertain thoroughly that David and his fellow believers have forgotten Him and stretched out their hands to foreign gods”? David questioned whether Jehovah God would examine thoroughly that he and his companions forgot Him and raised their hands in worship toward a foreign and false god.
The verse goes on to say, “for he knows the secrets of the heart.” David continued with the words, “for he knows the secrets” or “because, since and on account that he, Jehovah God, understands, perceives and discerns the concealed and hidden things” “of the heart” which means “belonging to the inner man, mind, will, understanding, thinking, reflection, memory, inclination, resolution, determination and conscience”. David said Jehovah God knows the deepest, darkest hidden things which are in the souls of people.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David knew Jehovah God's capacity to know and understand the deepest “secrets” kept by mankind. There is no concealment before Him, and all things are open before His eyes. God knows us, and still loves us. He knew we needed a “Savior” because of the sinful thoughts, actions and attitudes that are within us, and He sent His Son Jesus to be crucified to death on our behalf. This single act proved the love of God to us, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and begin to reveal and cleanse every “secret” sin we hold within us. Let all praise, honor and glory be to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for their willingness to reach out to us regardless of the condition of our “hearts”.
Next time David says, “for your sake are we killed all the day long”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
