Making the LORD Our Trust - Psalms 40:4

In Psalms chapter forty David said, “I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he has put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD”, and in chapter forty and verse four of Psalms David said, “blessed is the man that makes the LORD his trust” where we read,

Blessed is that man that makes the LORD his trust,

and respects not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

The verse begins, Blessed is that man that makes the LORD his trust, ... David began with the words, “Blessed is the man” or “O how happy exists the person whether male or female” “that makes the LORD” which means “who places, sets, appoints and puts Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God as” “his trust” or “his, the person's, confidence, refuge and security”. David said the person who has Jehovah God as their confidence, refuge and security will exist in happiness.

The verse continues,... and respects not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. David added the words, “and respects not the proud” or “and does not turn toward, approach and regard the defiant and insolent”, “nor such as turn aside” which means “no and not in any way toward people who swerve, fall away and become derelict” “to lies” or “toward untruth, falsehood and deception”. David shared how people who are blessed make the LORD their security and confidence and do not regard the defiant and insolent people who become derelict toward lying.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David recognized the true happiness that is within the person who has their confidence and faith in Jehovah God. They do not regard people who are defiant and insolent, and they do not keep company with people who are liars. God desires to save every person, and He sent His Son Jesus to die for the sins of the world. When we have faith and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life. Everyone is invited to receive Jesus into their life, and when they do, they do not turn toward or regard people who are defiant, insolent and liars.

Next time David says, many, O LORD my God, are your wonderful works which you have done, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
