In Psalms chapter forty five David said, “Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the scepter of your kingdom is a right scepter”, and in chapter forty five and verse seven of Psalms David said, “You love righteousness, and hate wickedness” where we read,
You love righteousness, and hate wickedness:
therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.
The verse begins, “You love righteousness, and hate wickedness:” David began with the words, “You love righteousness” or “you, Jehovah God, have a strong affection and appetite for justice, rightness, deliverance, victory and prosperity”, “and hate wickedness” which means “and exist as odious and as an enemy and foe of wrong, guilt, violence and crime against civil law”. David said Jehovah God is strongly affectionate and loving toward that which is right and just, and He is odious and as an enemy toward wrong and violence.
The verse goes on to say, “therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.” David continued with the words, “therefore God” or “then, wherefore and on this account the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”, “your God” which means “your, the royal king's, Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”, “has anointed you” or “has spread a liquid on, consecrated and rubbed you, royal king, with oil” “with the oil of gladness” which means “by the use of the staple, medicament or unguent pertaining to joy, exultation and rejoicing” “above your fellows” or “over and more than your, royal king's, associates, worshipers and companions”. David said Jehovah God consecrated the “Royal King, the Messiah Jesus” with a medicament of joy, exultation and rejoicing.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David knew Jehovah God's “love” for justice and rightness and His detestation of “wrong and injustice”. He knew the “Royal King” who would be the “Messiah and Christ” of God would be “anointed” with God's Spirit, and the result would be gladness, joy and exultation that far exceeds any other person. God desires to have an intimate, personal relationship with every person through His Messiah Son Jesus, and anyone who believes and trusts in Him as their “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and be “anointed” by God's Spirit to live according to His plan and purpose for their life. God loves us, and His “love” for “goodness and right” and “hatred” toward things that are unjust and wrong is for our benefit as we align with His thoughts about things and not the thoughts of the world.
Next time David says, “All your garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
