In Psalms chapter forty four David said, “My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face has covered me, for the voice of him that reproaches and blasphemes; by reason of the enemy and avenger”, and in chapter forty four and verse seventeen of Psalms David said, “all this is come upon us” where we read,
All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten you, neither have we dealt falsely in your covenant.
The verse begins, “All this is come upon us;” David began with the words, “all this” or “each, every, the whole and everything that has happened” “is come upon us” which means “has entered, fallen and come to pass on us, David and his believing companions”. David said his “enemy and avenger” caused all the difficulties and afflictions he and his fellow companions were experiencing.
The verse goes on to say, “yet have we not forgotten you, neither have we dealt falsely in your covenant.” David continued with the words, “yet have we not forgotten you” or “still we, David and his companions, have in no way or manner ignored, ceased to care or lacked in memory or attention to you, Jehovah God”, “neither have we dealt falsely” which means “no and not in any way or manner have we, David and his fellow believers cheated, lied or been untrue” “in your covenant” or “within your, Jehovah God's, alliance, league, treaty, constitution or ordinance”. David said he and his believing companions continued to remember Jehovah God, and they in no way were untrue and cheating toward His constitution or ordinance.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David knew the source of his troubles was from his hating foes, and although he and his companions were afflicted, they did not forget Jehovah God nor be untrue to His ordinances. God knows we will face trials and tribulations, and we are to keep our faith and trust in Him. God loves us, and He demonstrated His love by sending His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide His Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth and provide the power to live according to that truth. Let us give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for their presence and provision even in the midst of our afflictions.
Next time David says, “our heart is not turned back”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
