In Psalms chapter forty four David said, “In God we boast all the day long, and praise your name for ever. Selah.”, and in chapter forty four and verse nine of Psalms David said, “you have cast off, and put us to shame” where we read,
But you have cast off, and put us to shame; and go not forth with our armies.
The verse begins, “But you have cast off, and put us to shame;” David began with the words, “but you have cast off” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover you, Jehovah God, have rejected, spurned, forsaken and removed far away”, “and put us to shame” which means “and have insulted, shamed, blushed, confused and humiliated us, David and his fellow believers”. David said Jehovah God rejected, confused and humiliated he and his fellow believers.
The verse goes on to say, “and go not forth with our armies.” David continued with the words, “and go not forth” or “and do not proceed, lead, come out and exit” “with our armies” which means “alongside our, David and his fellow believers', host, warfare, battle company and soldiers”. David said Jehovah God did not accompany he and his fellow believers as warriors when they went to battle.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David felt that Jehovah God not only rejected and humiliated he and his companions, but that He also did not accompany them as they went to battle. Although he could “boast” in God and “praise his name for ever”, he did not feel like God was for him and with him. God loves us, and He desires to have a personal intimate relationship with us through His Son Jesus. Whether we feel like God is with us or not, He is, and when we submit to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and accompany us regardless of whether we feel Him.
Next time David says, “you make us turn back from the enemy”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
