In Psalms chapter forty four David said, “You are my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob. Through you will we push down our enemies: through your name will we tread them under that rise up against us. For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me”, and in chapter forty four and verse seven of Psalms David said, “you have saved us from our enemies” where we read,
But you have saved us from our enemies, and have put them to shame that hated us.
The verse begins, “But you have saved us from our enemies, …” David began with the words, “But you have saved us” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover you, Jehovah God, have rescued, delivered and liberated us, David and his believing companions” “from our enemies” which means “separate and apart from our, David and his believing companions, hating foes and adversaries”. David declared Jehovah God to be his and his companions' deliverer and liberator from the foes who hated them.
The verse goes on to say, “... and have put them to shame that hated us.” David continued with the words, “and have put them to shame” or “and have shamed, disconcerted and disappointed the hating foes and adversaries” “that hated us” which means “who were utterly hateful and odious to us, David and his believing companions”. David declared that Jehovah God made the foes and adversaries of he and his believing companions to be ashamed and disconcerted.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David knew it was Jehovah God who rescued and delivered he and his believing companions. He knew God made his “hating foes” to be ashamed, and because He intervened, they were disconcerted and disappointed as well. God loves people, and He invites everyone to receive His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”. He sent Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross and raised from the dead so the sins of everyone who believes and trusts in Him would be forgiven. This will allow us to inherit eternal life with Him, and forever we shall give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God for rescuing us from our hating foes.
Next time David says, “In God we boast all the day long”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
