One Hundred and Forty Four Thousand of Israel Revelation 7:4

After the worship scene in heaven where “the Lamb” of God received the “scroll” in God's right hand, the beginning of the tribulation to come upon the earth began and John the apostle saw the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and the sixth seals were opened and great troubles came upon the earth with each of them. He continued, And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?” John went on to say, “And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.”, and in chapter seven and verse four of Revelation John shared how John “one hundred and forty four thousand of all the tribes...of Israel” where we read:

And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

The verse reads, And I heard the number of them which were sealed:John began with the words, “and I heard” which means “and John was endowed with the faculty of hearing, not deaf and attentive to” “the number” which means “the fixed and definite amount” “of them” or “pertaining to the people who were the servants of God during the tribulation” “which were sealed” which means “who received His signet seal in their foreheads”. John was given the ability to “hear” the amount of people who were to be “sealed in their foreheads” with God's “signet seal”.

The verse continues, “and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.” John added the words, “and there were sealed” which means “and the amount of people who received His signet seal in their foreheads” “and hundred and forty and four thousand” or “the number of one hundred and forty four thousand” “of all the tribes” which refers to “each, every, the whole and everyone descending from one of the twelve tribes of the patriarch Jacob” “of the children” or “the sons, progeny and descendant” “of Israel” which means “the family and descendants of the patriarch Jacob whose name means he shall be prince”. John saw the “one hundred and forty four thousand” people “receive God's signet seal in their foreheads” from the “twelve tribes of Israel”.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we see how the people who are “sealed” with God's “signet” were from the “twelve tribes of Israel”. The number of them is “one hundred and forty four thousand”, and each of them were known and identified by the “angels” who were to “seal” them. God knows those He will “save” during the tribulation period, and He desires for them to receive His Son Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord” before the “tribulation” comes. Those who accept Him shall be “saved”, and those who do not shall endure troubles like they have never known before.

Next time we John sees how, “twelve thousand” were “sealed” of the tribes of “Judah, Reuben and Gad”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
