Seven Trumpets Revelation 8:2

After the worship scene in heaven where “the Lamb” of God received the “scroll” in God's right hand, the beginning of the tribulation to come upon the earth began and John the apostle saw the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and the sixth seals were opened and great troubles came upon the earth with each of them. After another worship scene in heaven, John watched as Jesus, “had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour”, and in chapter eight and verse two John saw “the seven angels which stood before God” receive “seven trumpets” where we read:

And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.

The verse reads, And I saw the seven angels which stood before God;John began with the words, “and I saw” which means “and John perceived, noticed, discerned and discovered” “the seven angels” which refers to “the seven messengers, envoys or ones who were sent” “which stood” or “who were made firm, fixed, established and to stand” “before God” which means “in front and in the presence of the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. John watched as the “seven angels” who were standing before God's throne appeared.

The verse continues, “and to them were given seven trumpets.” John added the words, “and to them” which means “and to the seven angels standing before God's throne” “were given” which means “were granted, bestowed, supplied and furnished” “seven trumpets” or “seven quavering or reverberating trumpet instruments”. John watched as these “seven messengers of God” were “given” “seven reverberating trumpets” .

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we begin to see the initiation of a second phase of God's judgment upon the earth. This time, “seven angels” who stand before His throne are given “seven trumpets” which shall unleash more judgment upon the earth. Soon these “trumpets” will be blown by the “seven angels”, and mass destruction will be launched with each one. God does not want people to endure these things, and when they give their lives to Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord” they shall escape them. Today is the “day of salvation”, and there is no better time than now to receive Jesus before these ominous and foreboding instruments sound.

Next time John shares how “another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
