The Third Trumpet Sounded Revelation 8:10

As John the apostle continued to share about the “tribulation” that was to come upon the earth, he shared concerning the first six seals Jesus removed from the “scroll” in God's right hand. He also wrote about what happened when Jesus, “had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets … And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound. The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.In chapter eight and verse ten John saw what happened when “the third angel sounded” where we read:

And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;
The verse reads, And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, ...John began with the words, “and the third angel” which means “and the third messenger, envoy and one sent” “sounded” or “blew and blasted his trumpet”, “and there fell” which means “there descended from a higher place to a lower or thrown down” “a great star” or “a massive, abundant and large star” “from heaven” which means “out of and away from the aerial heavens or sky and the region where the clouds and the tempests gather and where thunder and lightning are produced”, “burning” or “set on, kindled and consumed with fire” “as it were a lamp” which means “like it was a torch or flame which is fed with oil”. After the “third angel” blasted his trumpet, John saw a huge “burning star” coming from the “heavens”.

The verse continues, “... and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;” John added the words, “and it fell” which means “and the burning star descended from a higher place to a lower or was thrown down” “upon the third part” or “on one third” “of the rivers” which means “of the streams, torrents or floods”, “and upon” or “and on” “the fountains” which refers to “the underground wells which were fed by a spring” “of waters” or “of fountains, pools and repositories”. John saw the “rivers” and underground “springs” as the target for this massive “burning star”.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we see yet another massive “burning star” which is most likely an “asteroid” or “meteor” falling toward the earth. When this “third messenger” before the throne of God blew his trumpet, this massive “star” which was on fire was thrown into the rivers and springs of the earth. This, no doubt, would pollute and destroy all life within them, and those who are familiar with the water cycle, know this would also affect the bodies of water into which these flowed. The earth is under the judgment of God Almighty at this time, and this “tribulation period” is destined for the earth and it's inhabitants. God has provided an escape from these things by having a relationship with His Son Jesus, however, if Jesus is rejected, woe be to those upon whom the third of the “rivers and the springs” shall be doomed.

Next time John shares how “the name of the star is called Wormwood ”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
