The Mighty Angel Cries Loudly Revelation 10:3

As John the apostle continued to share about the “tribulation” that was to come upon the earth, he shared concerning the first six seals Jesus removed from the “scroll” in God's right hand. He began to write about what happened when Jesus, “had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets … And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound. The first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth angels” blew their trumpets, and great judgment fell upon the earth. John continued, “And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,” In chapter ten and verse three of Revelation John shared how this angel, “cried with a loud voice” where we read:

And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars:
and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.

The verse reads, And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars: John began with the words “and cried” which means “vociferated, spoke and screamed” “with a loud voice” or “with a massive, great, intense and abundant sound or tone”, “as” which means “like ” “when a lion” or “at the time a great and mighty lion” “roars” which mean “bellows”. John heard the “mighty angel” shout loudly like when a “lion” makes its “roaring” sound.

The verse goes on to say, “and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.” John continued with the words, “and when” which means “and at the time and moment” “he had cried” or “the angel had vociferated, spoke and screamed”, “seven thunders” which means “seven thunders like in a storm” “uttered” or “articulated, emitted a sound or spoke” “their voices” which means “the seven thunders' sound of uttered words, language or tongue”. After John heard the “loud proclamation” of the “mighty angel”, he heard “seven thunders” speak as well.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we understand we are gaining a glance into a mighty spiritual scene. The “mighty angel” that John saw is in the spiritual world, and when he makes a loud proclamation, “seven thunders” respond to him. These powerful events are governed over by a God who loves people and desires to redeem them from their sinful way through a relationship with His Son Jesus. God oversees all these magnificent creatures, and His creation responds in resplendent glory in the spiritual realm. The question for those who read these words is, “Do you believe in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord?” If you do, there is no need to be concerned over the voices of this “mighty angel” nor the “seven thunders”, however, woe be to those who do not yield to the gravity of these wonders of God.

Next time John shares what happens when, “seven thunders had uttered their voices”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
