No Light From the Sun or Moon - Mark 13:24

Mark wrote how Jesus declared, in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be. And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he has chosen, he has shortened the days. And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not. For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. But take you heed: behold, I have foretold you all things”, and in chapter thirteen and verse twenty-four of his book, Mark shared how Jesus says, “in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light” where we read:

But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened,

and the moon shall not give her light,

The verse reads, “But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, ...” Mark began with the words, “but in those days” or “moreover and in the days of which Jesus spoke”, “after that tribulation” which means “in succession to the oppression, affliction, distress and straits”, “the sun” or “the sun in the sky” “shall be darkened” which means “will be covered with darkness and deprived of light”. Mark shared how Jesus said “in succession to the affliction and distress” of the time in which He spoke, “the sun” in the sky would be covered in darkness.

The verse goes on to say, “... and the moon shall not give her light, Mark continued with the words, “and the moon” which means “and the moon in the sky at night” “shall not give” or “will not grant, deliver, supply and furnish” “her light” or “the moon's brightness and beam of illumination”. Mark shared how Jesus said “the moon” would stop it's shinning as well.

When we meditate upon Mark's words in this verse, we see two more prophesies from Jesus in the days of which He spoke. The “sun” and the “moon” will stop their shining, and as we know the “moon” reflects the “light” of the “sun”, so with the “sun darkened”, we can imagine the effect it will have upon the “glow” of the “moon”. God knows all these thing “shall” come to pass, and He sent His Son Jesus to “save” people from the horrors of these days. Those who are wise will receive Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” and enjoy the promise of “everlasting eternal life” with God.

Next time Mark shares how Jesus says, “the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
