In the book of Ezra, Ezra shared how, “Darius the king made a decree, and search was made in the house of the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon”, and in chapter six and verse two of Ezra, Ezra shared what, “was found at Achmetha” where we read,
And there was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of the Medes,
a roll, and therein was a record thus written:
The verse reads, “And there was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of the Medes, ...” Ezra began with the words, “and there was found at Achmetha” which means “and there was discovered, acquired and obtained within Achmetha or Ecbatana which was the capital of Media which was captured by Cyrus in 550 BC and the summer residence of the Persian kings”, “in the palace” which means “within the castle or citadel” “that is in the province” or “that exists within the district or region” “of the Medes” which means “belonging to the Medes whose name means middle land”. Ezra shared how the following was discovered in the citadel within “Achmetha” which was located in the region of the “Medes”.
The verse goes on to say, “... a roll, and therein was a record thus written:” Ezra continued with the words, “a roll” or “a scroll or book”, “and therein was a record” which means “and within the scroll or book existed a register or memorandum” “thus written” or “which was inscribed, engraved and recorded as follows in our next verse”. Ezra shared how a record book was discover in which was inscribed a register or memorandum according to the words in our next verse.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Ezra that within the citadel located in “Achmetha” in the region of the Medes, a book was discovered in which a memorandum existed with the words in our next verse. We shall see what those words were in our next verse, but for now let us consider that this was a process for fulfilling the will of Jehovah God for Israel. What they proclaimed was true, and God would vindicate them. God desires to do the same for us. He loves us so much that He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and take care of us step by step until we go to live with Him in Heaven forever and ever.
Next time Ezra shares how, “Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
