Endure to the End and Be Saved - Matthew 24:13

Matthew the apostle wrote how Jesus, “sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of your coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that you be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold”, and in chapter twenty-four and verse thirteen of his book Matthew writes how Jesus declared, “he that shall endure unto the end, … shall be saved” where we read:

But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

The verse reads, But he that shall endure unto the end, ...” Matthew began with the word, “but” which means “nevertheless, nonetheless, moreover and” “he that shall endure” which means “the person whether male or female who will remain, tarry, abide, not recede or flee” “unto the end” or “till the termination, completion, finish, aim, purpose or limit at which a thing ceases to be”. Matthew shared how Jesus referred to the person who will “continue, remain and abide” until the completion of all the things He has said.

The verse continues, “... the same shall be saved.” Matthew added Jesus' words, “the same” or “that same person whether male or female” “shall be saved” or “will be kept safe and sound and be rescued from danger, destruction and disease”. Matthew shared how Jesus declared the person who will “remain and abide” until the culmination of all the things about which He spoke, shall be “rescued and kept safe” from them all.

When we consider Matthew's words in this verse, we see the protecting power of Jesus Christ the Messiah. Though great hardships and toils shall certainly come upon the earth, God will honor and bless those who “endure” them. God's desire is to “save” people from their sins and the horrific troubles that will certainly occur, and those who yield their lives to His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” shall be “saved” not only from the destruction that truly will come upon the earth, but also“eternally” as well.

Next time Matthew writes how Jesus says, “this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
