Matthew the apostle wrote how Jesus said, “because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved”, and in chapter twenty-four and verse fourteen of his book, Matthew writes how Jesus shared how, “the gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world” where we read:
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world
for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
The verse reads, “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world ...” Matthew began with the words, “and this gospel” which means “and the good news and glad tidings ” “of the kingdom” which means “pertaining to God's kingship, dominion, reign and rule” “shall be preached” or “will be heralded, published and openly proclaimed” “in all the world” which means “throughout the complete portion of the inhabited earth”. Matthew shared how Jesus said His “good news” of “salvation” would be “openly proclaimed” throughout the entire earth.
The verse goes on to say, “... for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” Matthew continued with Jesus' words, “for a witness” or “toward a testimony and evidence” “unto all nations” which means “to each, every, the whole and everyone of the multitudes of people who are associated or living together”; “and then” or “and at that time and moment” “shall the end come” which means “will the termination, completion, finish, aim and purpose arrive, appear and come forth”. Matthew shared how Jesus said the proclamation of the “gospel” would be a “testimony” to every “nation” upon the earth, and then the termination and completion of all things would come to pass.
When we consider Matthew's words in this verse, we see how the “gospel” is to be shared with every language, tongue, people and nation, and all the world shall be provided the opportunity to know Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord”. The “end of the world” will “come” thereafter, and as Revelation chapter twenty-one and verse five proclaims, “And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.” God's desire is to “save” everyone through a relationship with His Son Jesus, and only those who yield their lives to Him in “faith and trust” shall be “saved”. “Today is the day of salvation”, and God's arms are open wide to receive in love and forgiveness every person who will humbly come to Him.
Next time Matthew writes how Jesus speaks about, “the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
