Matthew the apostle wrote how Jesus said, “if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect”, and in chapter twenty-four and verse twenty-five of his book, Matthew writes how Jesus told His disciples, “behold, I have told you before” where we read:
Behold, I have told you before.
The verse reads, “Behold, I have told you before.” Matthew began with Jesus' word, “behold” which means “look, lo and see”, “I have told you before” which means “Jesus foretold His disciples in advance and preceding” the events He previously shared. Matthew shared how Jesus wanted His disciples to know in advance about the things which would occur after the “abomination of desolation”.
When we meditate upon Matthew's words in this verse, we see how Jesus wanted His disciples to know in advance about the events which would occur before He returned and the end of the world came. God continually cares for those who submit their lives to His Son Jesus, and He wants people to know how horrific it will be at the end of this age. Those who are wise will be attuned to what Jesus has declared and align themselves with Him well before those things come to pass.
Next time Matthew writes how Jesus says “if they shall say unto you, behold, he is in the desert, go not forth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
