Abraham Not Weak in Faith Romans 4:19

Paul the apostle told the Jews in Rome, Abraham “against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall your seed be”, in chapter four and verse nineteen of Romans, Paul referred to how Abraham was, “not weak in faith” where we read:

And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead,
when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:
The verse begins, “And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, ...” Paul began with the words, “and being not” which means “not existing as” “weak” or “feeble, without strength and powerless” “in faith” or “in the conviction that God exists and is the creator and ruler of all things, the provider and bestower of eternal salvation through Christ”, “he considered not” which means “Abraham did not perceive, remark, observe and understand” “his own body” or “Abraham's personal physical corpse” “now dead” which refers to “at that time impotent, deprived of power and destroyed of strength”. “Abraham” was not “powerless” in his “believe and trust” in God, and he did not think about how his body was beyond the reproductive years.

The verse continues, “... when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:Paul added the words, “when he was” which means “at the time Abraham was” “about an hundred years old” or “almost one hundred”, “neither yet” which means “also, even and indeed” “the deadness” or “the dead and impotent state” “of Sara's” whose name means “princess” and was “the wife of Abraham's” “womb” or “the matrix or uterus”. Paul shared how “Abraham” believed God even though he was almost “one hundred years old” nor did he consider that his wife “Sara” was beyond the child bearing years.

When we meditate upon these words of Paul, we see the great “faith” of “Abraham”. Not only did he consider that his body was “old”, his wife's body did not deter his faith either. God promised, and God would be faithful to his promise. God has promised “everlasting life” through “faith” in his Son Jesus Christ, and everyone who is not “weak in faith” like Abraham shall know the “salvation” of the Lord and live eternally with Him.

Next time Paul tells the people in Rome Abraham, “staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
