Why Yet am I Also Judged as a Sinner? Romans 3:7

Paul the apostle asked the Jews in Rome, “But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who takes vengeance? (I speak as a man)”, and he answered and asked, “God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?” In chapter three and verse seven of Romans, Paul asked another question, “why yet am I also judged as a sinner” where we read:

For if the truth of God has more abounded through my lie unto his glory;
why yet am I also judged as a sinner?

The verse begins, “For if the truth of God has more abounded through my lie unto his glory;” Paul began with the word, “for” which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and therefore” “if” or “whether” “the truth” which means “what is true in any matter under consideration, in reality, in fact and certainly” “of God” which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “has more abounded” or “overflows, redounds and turns out abundantly” “through” which means “by and with” “my lie” or “Paul's falsehood and perfidy by which a man by sinning breaks faith with God” “unto his glory” which refers to “to God's honor, magnificence, excellence, preeminence, dignity and grace”. Paul wanted his readers consider whether God's “truth” “abounded” because he told a “lie” to God's honor.

The verse continues, “why yet am I also judged as a sinner?” Paul added the words, “why yet” which means “for what reason still and presently” “am I also judged” which refers to “is Paul likewise separated, put asunder, picked out, selected, esteemed, determined, resolved and decreed” “as a sinner” or “an especially wicked heathen”? Paul wondered “why” he should be “put asunder and decreed” like a “wicked heathen” if his “lie” was to God's “honor” and “truth abounding”.

When we consider these words of Paul, we see the absurdity of his supposition. Paul would not make God's “truth abound” by “lying”nor would he bring “glory” to God. If he could, there would be no reason to “judge” him because he would have done well. However, this is a wrong way to look at God's “truth” and “honor”. Those who “sin” are in need of Jesus Christ as “Savior” because the penalty of sin is “death” (See Romans 6:23). “Lying” is sin, and those who do so shall be “judged” by God. Their only hope is to receive Jesus as “Savior and Lord”, and everyone who “believes and trusts” in Him shall live eternally with Him.

Next time Paul tells the people in Rome how he and his companions have been, “slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
